Classic Cobbler Closes

Shutters down, boards up
Fred Roach, the traditional cobbler in St.Andrews Street, closed its doors for the last time on Saturday 25th November.

The closure of the shop came on the same day as another traditional shop in the town, Candies Sweetshop in Market Place. Not only did they both close on the same day, but both originally opened during the same period as well - eighty years ago!

Regent Re-opens

The Prince Regent public house in Bull Plain re-opened on Thursday 30th November following a three week refit. The re-opening was marked on Friday by fireworks and a laser light show in the skies above the bar. The pub will be applying for a regular late licence at weekends when magistrates sit on 16th December.

Goodbye Greenhouse, Hello La Cafe

The former Greenhouse cafe in Railway Street has a new owner and a new name. You can still drop in for just a cup of tea or coffee, or a meal, plus you can now also have a takeout - from anything on the menu. The sandwich range has also been expanded and the restaurant can be booked for private functions. Outside catering is also available.

Hardware Store Refit

Do-It-All in Ware Road has undergone a major refit, including new checkouts, a covered garden area and the introduction of a crafts section.
