Nominations for District Council Elections

Wednesday 12 April 2023

Thirty six candidates will be vying for ten places in the District Council elections on Thursday 4th May 2023.

Hertford is currently represented by six conservative councillors, along with two Labour, one Green and one independent.

The district council is responsible for planning, parking, housing registration, noise and pollution control, parks and open spaces, arts and leisure services, rubbish collection and environmental health. The district council is not responsible for schools, highways, waste recycling and social services.

Hertford is split in to four electoral areas called wards. Those standing for election on Thursday 4th May in each ward are listed below.

Councillors not standing for re-election include veteran Peter Ruffles, Mary Brady, Mari Stevenson, Suzanne Rutland-Barsby and Bob Deering, who confinues to serve as a county councillor.
