A Family Fun Day will take place in the Castle Grounds from 12-4pm on Thursday 2nd June to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
The town council run event will see a host of activities for all to enjoy, including a Castle Open Day, traditional summer fete, games and activities, food and drink, music and much more.
Local charities, clubs and schools will be joining in the celebrations by hosting activity stalls on the Castle Lawn whilst fundraising for their groups.
In the evening, our celebrations continue with the Hertford Castle Beacon Lighting - used to mark Royal occasions. More than 2,000 beacons will be lit throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories, and one in each of the capital cities of Commonwealth countries, in recognition of The Queen’s long and selfless service.
The ceremony runs from 8:45pm to 10pm and will be accompanied by an address from the Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, Mr Robert Voss CBE CStJ, and the Mayor of Hertford, a visual display of images on the Castle of Her Majesty and a bugle call to fanfare the lighting of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacon.
Chairman of Hertford Town Council's Development and Leisure Committee, Cllr Jane Sartin, said: "Hertford Town Council has hosted celebrations for many major historic occasions at Hertford Castle, and I am delighted that we are once again bringing the local community together to mark HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. I am sure that it will be an enjoyable day, and also one that everyone who attends will remember as part of the national celebrations."
