Love Hertford Awardwinners Announced

The winners and finalists of the Love Hertford Awards 2018 were revealed at the awards ceremony at Hertford Castle yesterday evening (20th June 2018).

Over 2500 votes were cast by the public for their favourite traders.

A judging panel made up of the Mayor of Hertford and representatives of Hertfordshire Mercury, Axis Magazine, Visit Herts, Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce, the previous Mayor of Hertford Cllr Sue Dunkley, the Chairman of the Council’s Development and Leisure Committee Cllr Jane Sartin and the newly appointed Town Centre Officer considered comments from the public alongside the number of votes received to decide upon the winner and finalist for the nine categories available.

The winners and finalists from each category were:

Pub or Restaurant
Winner – The Salisbury Arms 
Finalist – The Old Barge

Health and Well Being
Winner – Natural Health 
Finalist – Total Body Fit Camp

Home and Interiors 
Winner – Messages 
Finalist – Marshall’s

Professional Services
Winner – Nationwide Building Society 
Finalist – Shepherds of Hertford

Café or Fast Food
Winner – Carley’s Fish and Chip Bar 
Finalist – Hertford Coffee Lab

Food and Drink Retailer
Winner – G. Pickett Butchers 
Finalist – Natural Health

Community and Voluntary
Winner – Mudlarks 
Finalist – Hertford Theatre

Hair and Beauty 
Winner – Hertford Hair 
Finalist – Saks

Fashion
Winner – The Women’s Society Boutique 
Finalist – Monsoon Accessorize

The winners were awarded trophies at the event by the Mayor of Hertford, Cllr Beryl Wrangles.

Chairman of the Development and Leisure Committee, Cllr Jane Sartin, said: "The Love Hertford Awards have been a fantastic celebration of Hertford’s shops and services, both in the town centre and in neighbourhood shopping parades. It was good to see a mix of independents and national chains recognised, and I hope it has reminded everyone of all that’s on offer on our doorstep. There is every reason to shop local in Hertford."
