The redeveloped play area on Hartham Common has reopened after a six month facelift.
The soft opening comes after six months of work to landscape the area and provide new equipment.
Despite the obstacles we have experienced including Covid-19 and Brexit, we have completed the play area and we would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for following us on this journey and your patience as we worked to deliver a new destination play area for our county town.

Residents formed the Hertford Playground Alliance in May 2018 and have been working with East Herts District Council and community charity Groundwork Hertfordshire to redesign and overhaul the popular play area.
HPA raised over £33,000 through a crowdfunding campaign, with local brewery McMullens contributing £5000.

Though most of the work is now complete, contractors stillneed to carry out further works to the pathway due to a national shortage of the material required to complete it in the style planned. It is hoped that this work can be carried out in the week commencing 7th June, which will require a short closure.
Fencing surrounding the play area will remain in place until all work is complete.

Residents are reminded that all users of the play area should continue to follow government advice and social distance, wash hands regularly and if the play area is busy to come back later.
