Crime in Hertford is down 6% according to statistics published by the police.

A total of 263 offences were recorded in the town in April, compared to 206 in March. Many of these were for antisocial behaviour and most in and around the town centre.
In the 12 months to the end of April 2018, a total of 2841 offences were reported, compared to 2870 for the 12 months to the end of March. The same period in 2017-18 saw 3023 crimes. The year-on-year drop in crime is 6%.
Antisocial behaviour, violence and sexual offences made up the majority of reported crime. Criminal damage and arson were the second most common offences with 24 crimes reported. There were 20 reported burglaries.
Speaking in January, a spokesperson for the Hertfordshire Constabulary said: "Whilst Hertfordshire continues to experience relatively low levels of crime, having one of the lowest levels of recorded crime in the country, we do experience local crime hotspots, and we are proactively tackling these problems and pursuing those responsible."
