Hummingbird closes

Mystery surrounds the sudden closure of The Hummingbird gastopub in Fore Street.

The bar and restaurant opened just 10 months ago after a major refit and featured a bar area, restaurant and private dining room.

It is unclear how many jobs have been lost but the restaurant had a team of 35 when it opened.

The Hummingbird is part of the Epic Pub Company chain and other restaurants in the chain are still trading. However, the company's web hosting account has been suspended and the company are unreachable by phone.

Managing Director of Epic Pubs, Joanne Probert, left the company last month after just 8 months in the role.

Epic Pubs have been approached for comment.
