Festival of Music brings world class performers to town

Hertford's annual festival of classical music opens later this week with ten days of world class performances.

The Hertfordshire Festival Of Music opens on Thursdsay 13th June and features concerts at All Saint's Church, the Friends Meeting House and St.Leonard's Church. There are also festival events in St.Albans, Hitchin and Stevenage.

The Festival has almost doubled in size compared to 2018 and now truly ranks in the top class of classical music events in the UK. With the theme of  Greetings and Farewells, music will be performed from centuries ago to the present day.

Artistic Directors Tom Hammond & James Francis Brown said: "We are thrilled by the ambitious scope of this year's Festival with such variety of ensembles and musical styles; period instrument performances of Haydn sit alongside a healthy amount of music from our Featured Living Composers, plus 20th century giants such as Stravinsky and Ravel. The level of performers is also something to be excited by, building on the incredibly enthusiastic response of audience to the 2018 Festival; HFoM presents truly world-class musicians. The outreach work being offered to younger people (and adults) in Hertfordshire is something we are proud to inspire and present, with ticket offers that make all the performances and events accessible to the widest possible public."

The Hertfordshire Festival of Music was founded in 2016 and is an annual summer celebration of classical music in Hertford.
