Nominations Open for Local Elections

Nominations for the forthcoming Town and District Council elections open today, with prospective candidates having 14 days to register for election.

Hertford has four wards:-

  • Castle - elects 4 town councillors and 3 district councillors
  • Kingsmead - elects 4 town councillors and 2 district councillors
  • Sele - elects 4 town councillors and 2 district councillors
  • Bengeo  - elects 4 town councillors and 3 district councillors

Both councils are currently dominated by The Conservative Party, with just one Labour councillor on the town council, and four independents and a Liberal Democrat on the 50 strong District Council. Elections for both councils take place every four years.

Candidate nominations close at 4.00pm on Wednesday 3rd April 2019. Detailed information about the elections can be found on the District Council website.

Polling day is on Thursday 2nd May 2019.
