Bircherley Green Changes Sought

Monday 10 December 2018

Developers have submitted a planning application to make changes to the proposed new shopping centre at Bircherley Green.

Shopping centre owners Diageo Pension Trust Ltd, have put in an application to add 1471sq.m of office space, whilst reducing the number of residential units from 70 to 56, together with a small reduction in retail space from 4833 sq.m to 4602 sqm.

The changes would affect the eastern side of 'Building B' that will sit between Bircherley Street and the bus station (roughly the area recently occupied by Boots)

No other changes to the shopping centre are being sought, although a separate application to amend plans for the hotel on the corner of Bircherley Street and Railway Street has been submitted. The proposed car park comprising 188 spaces is not affected by the revised plans.

Planning Permission for the redevelopment of Bircherley Green was granted in January this year (2018) with demolition starting in August. Work is expected to be complete within two years.

Updated to clarify that the proposed changes to the shopping centre are separate from other changes proposed for the hotel.
