NEW YEARS EVE

Hi can anyone help us out? We had planned to visit friends and family in Portsmouth for new years but work commitments have enforced us to cancel this plan. Where can we go in Hertford? Where could we still get tickets for? Presuming that most/all places are ticket only? We are a young couple so music is a must! Cheers

Yeah i'm thinking more of pubs/bars, just trying to work out if tickets are needed or not, as dont want to be walking to town new years eve just to walk back home again - far to cold for that!

This site would be a good central point for information on what's happening on New Years Eve. Perhaps next year.........

The Sportsman and The Blackbirds will not be charging entrance. The White Hart and The Stone House are both £10. Baroosh is £20. The Duncombe Arms is £5.

maybe not your thing mike, but we still have space for our newyears eve tasting menu. cost is £80 per head. may seem a bit steep, but you will be eating some sublime food in a great, relaxed, cosy, informal environment. menu consists of six courses, starting with canapes on arrival, followed by a small parsnip and ginger veloute with truffle, then we have a foiegras and mallard terrine with french lentils, then, halibut with fennel puree seared diver scallop and caviar, then fillet of 28 day aberdeen angus beef with wild mush, spinach and shallots, then a grand plate of bite size desserts, including tarte tatin, passion fruit and white choc delice, cassis mousse, chocolate and walnut tart. finishing with cheeses which will be , eppoisse, brie de nangis, dunsyre blue, cornish yarg and ragstone. coffee and champagne truffles to finish. this is a tasting menu so the portions wont be enormous, but more than adequate. i have sourced the best possible quality for this, of course the price may put people off but i say its bang for your buck. justin.

Now Justin, you have to admit that that is blatant advertising. This is outrageous. Why don't you simply post your menu on the site.

Is there a problem with Justin replying to a specific question by detailing his NY eve menu ?. I dont find it outrageous or offensive...in fact its quite intresting !. Its not as if he manipulated the subject of the thread or the original question asked.

wizkid - why dont you like me? Please don't think I don't like you, I very much admire your style, you are very good at getting publicity for your restaurant. If you ever leave the restaurant business a very successful career in advertising beckons. It has definately worked on me because I certainly intend to visit the Hillside with some friends for a meal and am very much looking forward to it. I know it is a good restaurant from what I have heard. [:)]

agreed, advertising - yes but not out of context, was a usefull answer to my original question and would have been quite happy to have seen another 10 similar answers from a range of restaurants/pubs/bars! Justin I feel so long as you keep it within the context of a thread then go for it, afterall Hertford should be seen as a place to go and if you have somewhere that can draw people in to Hertford to spend their money, then you should make the point.

I certainly will Justin. I think it would be good to arrange the Hertford Online gathering first. What about Wednesday 12th January at 8.30 at the Hillside? If someone doesn't name a date, it won't happen and I think that would be a shame.[:)]
