hiya much as i think the hillside is a fantastic pub and restaurant, can I suggest that it might be a bit sedate for a get together?? Also is a bit small, so may exclude the full H.O.L. "community" from attending?! [;)] How about the OXT?

I will be able to go on the 12th. Hillside sounds a good idea to me, esp if there is only going to be a few of us.

true.. it does depend on nos... I will be free, and as the hillside is my fave restaurant in hertford, i have no objections to going there!!

I have never been to the Hillside, but I would really like to see it. Why don't we say, if the headcount goes higher than 10 (or more than the Hillside can comfortably take) we go to the Old Cross Tavern, if it remains 10 or below we go to the Hillside. As long as we have agreed a date and a time, the venue can be finalised nearer to the date itself, as long as we all go to the same place it will be fine.

Come to the Hillside on Wednesday 12th January Alternatively try and get involved with a community organisation e.g. church, youth club or special interest group

Very 'Hertford'............but would we all have to join or would you sign us all in? If we agree on a date and to get the thing going I suggest Wednesday 16th February, I can let the managers of the Hertford Club

Chicken tikka haryali masala.... although the last time I had it, it wasn't as good, I am hoping that was just a 'one off'.

the best way I find to have spinach is to tear a handful up & put it in pasta sauce about a minute before you are going to serve - makes it nice and soft but keeps all the nutrients [:D]

Reply ID 3592

This sounds like a potential 'Spinach forum' in the making[^]

Reply ID 3599

19/01/2005 by justin

the best way to cook spinach is to get a hot saucepan with frothy butter, throw tons of washed spinach in it always moving it . season with salt and pepper and grated nutmeg, drain well and eat.

Reply ID 3605

hated spinach til I got myself a German Wife. Now i can't get enough of the stuff. Plenty of butter is the clue.

I like it fried in olive oil with garlic, ginger, spices and onions, at the end, add a touch of tomato puree, or fresh tomatoes.... delicious[:)]

Typical! You go away for 6 weeks (to a rainy New Zealand - worst weather in 38 years) and the fabled meet-up finally happens! I'd definitely be up for the next one. Is the plan still for Wed 16th Feb at the Hertford Club? Could whoever volunteered themselves to be the organiser (wizkid?) put myself and the missus down? Thanks.
