I had an awful time trying to get a repeat prescription last week. I took the request in on the Thursday evening and got my OH to pop in to pick it up Tuesday evening. They couldn't find it. They confirmed it had been done but it had accidently been sent to the chemist. They said they would retrieve it.
On Wednesday evening I popped in and they still couldn't find it. I was asked which chemist had it been sent to. How on earth was I supposed to know where they had sent it? Anyway, I went back Thursday morning and was told it was possibly in Lloyds and if I'd like to wait until Lloyds opened. it was 8.10 and I had a bus to catch. The receptionist suggested I phone her later in the day to remind her and she'd get the prescription for me. Guess who couldn't get through?
To cut a long story short, that evening, OH popped in again and they confirmed it was in Lloyds from where he was able to collect it.
This is the second time this has happened to me.

I get the impression that the entire practice is overwhelmed to the point where it has become dysfunctional.

Doctors and admin staff are unable to fulfil their roles.

My own experience is of disinterested front-desk staff and doctors that fail to follow up.

In their defence I feel pretty well looked after there but do find you have to wait two weeks to be ill (unless you think you're an emergency - which isn't your call, it theirs). This does contrast with anecdotal evidence from my friends and colleagues "oop north" who have "Walk In" surgeries - no appointment necessary.

While I was in there waiting yesterday there was a young couple signing up as new patients.......

Has anyone tried their online appointment booking? I was tempted but it said I had to fill out a paper form and take it to reception to sign up.

I signed up online ages ago and to be honest it was useless and didn't ever show appointments, or would only have 1 about a month away, so I've never really used it! However I looked this morning and there were multiple appointment choices with the earliest for a general appointment on 6 June. So it looks like the system has vastly improved and is now more fully up and running. From the app/online you can also request repeat prescriptions.
