The Hillside

Has anyone got any comments about Hertford's new "English" restaurant? Would be keen to hear some thoughts from anyone who's been.

Been once on a Friday night. It's quite busy then (though not oppressively overcrowded due to its size). The service was very good and the food was excellent. Expect (with wine) to pay 50-70 for two. I'll leave that for you to decide if that's expensive or not. Incidentally, the bar's quite nice so don't worry about getting there early, or just going for a drink.

I'd recommend it any time. Not cheap, admittedly, but a very good eating out experience - something to savour. I've heard they're about to open a deli next door too....

Hello Justin - is there anything in your Christmas menu for fussy types like me who only really like white meat or veggie stuff? Other half is keen to try the Christmas pheasant (as advertised in the paper) but I am worried that I will have to make do with the cheese board. Love the idea of a deli, by the way.

I might well do that Justin - but will there be anything I can eat? Chicken? Veggie stuff? It's my birthday next month so I am hoping to be taken out for a lunch treat

I have just looked at the Hillside website, Justin, and I can see you were having me on about the pie and chips. There is loads of choice! Expect to see me in a couple of weeks time - I'll be the one ordering all the veggie stuff!
