Has anybody any idea what they are going to build on the site of the bungalows they have pulled down in north road? I hope it is going to be bungalows as its a pity I am not on the planning committee because there would be no bungalows demolished and replaced with houses or flats. The same with building loft rooms in bungalows with dormer windows as this changes them into houses.

Glad you're on no planning committees then, what's wrong with converting the loft of a bungalow? I'm interested to know what's going on there too.

What has made you so against the removal and conversion of Bungalows? My father had a loft conversion in his bungalow to create a marvellous master suite and a lovely balcony to sit in the Summer. I am not that bothered about the ones in North Road but I am intrigued by your stance on bungalows.

Mr Sarto senior, who was a planner "oop north" some years ago, refers to ribbon development of bungalows as "bungaloid growth"!

For them to have demolished there must be a planning entry on the website that should tell you what is planned. If you know the address you can search it.

I did not stir mean to start up a hornets nest about bungalows but I was born in one "up north",then after moving down to chapmore end I again lived in one my father helped to build at Westmill . Nr Tonwell not buntingford. I just happen to think that there is not enough bungalows for people who cannot manage stairs,plus they are more pleasant to look at.If you want to extend go out wards not upwards ,and if you go up and sell it afterwards please please please don't call it a chalet bungalow as there is no such thing, if its got stairs its a HOUSE!!!. Anyway I've had my rant , thanks for listening even if you did not agree , and getting back to the point of the thread thanks for Marilyn's advice and I will try and find the address.

I heard, (so not 100% sure), that 6 detached houses are being built there. Goodness knows how they will fit them in. Also can you imagine the traffic problems caused driving out onto North Road from them. Hopefully my source is wrong.....

I think they look a lot better than many of the other properties along that stretch. It's nice to see modern architecture with a bit of character and imagination (as opposed to the "stunning" properties offered by the larger housebuilders).

Oh - I spoke to the architects and they only talked to me about the 2 at the front then. Strange they didn't mention the other 3.

Doesn't show you the slope from that does it!......... I think "Arrowhead" is a house at the top of Sele Road?
