This may seem an odd request but is anyone in Bengeo missing a fawn coloured, fairly small hen or chicken. At some time during the morning it has appreared dead but not obviously injured in our back garden! [img]http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8328/8407453633_8529488cc2.jpg[/img]

Red kites were out yesterday around bengeo...are they big enough to pick up a chicken?

Big enough certainly but unlikely unless really hungry (they're mainly carrion eaters). If one had managed to despatch a chicken it probably wouldn't leave it lying about.

I rather hope that when they've determined what actaully is in all these frozen meals we will be able to buy them at a knock done price! The horsemeat shenanigans are about fraud not health risk and it would be a shame to waste perfectly edible food by disposing of it for labelling reasons!

Dear Darcey Well, the problem is we don't know where the horses were sourced and if they were of "dubious" quality I would not like to speculate there is no health risk. After all most horses I know and ride (rather than eat!) have worming mixtures, vet medicines.. etc. I really don't know and wouldn't like to state so strongly that there would be no health risk. As far as I can make out its not really clear where the horsemeat came from and as such makes a statement of good health hard to back up.
