The public toilets buy the Six Templars.

Perhaps I am wrong but I thought that Wetherspoons had an obligation to maintain what was the public toilets next to their pub as part of the permission for them moving into the premises. I had the misfortune of needing a loo in town recently and went there only to find the door for the public locked and access only achievable via the pub, the whole toilet a general unclean and disgusting mess and the door to the single cubicle smashed and unlockable. It smacks of Wetherspoons or the local management either ignoring their obligations or sticking two fingers up.

Ewoowar, they have been in that condition for a very long time, are you sure that they actually are public toilets? The ones upstairs seem to have had the seats ripped off etc which is nice… It’s a shame because a lot of money was spent on that place. Perhaps that’s what should be expected with cheap alcohol?

The state of ALL the Public toilets in the town is dreadful, and has been for years. Well over 10 years ago I wrote to the Mercury when my then 4 year old was upset at having to use the dirty toilets by the bus station, when a child of that age complains you know they must be bad. I had no choice but to use the ones on Hartham in the summer, never again!!

Get in touch with EHDC. I had the same complaint,a couple of years ago, contacted EHDC and the matter was sorted very quickly. The switchboard should be able to put you through to the relevant department.

I'm sure I read in the Mercury (either last week or the week before) that they had been awarded a "gold star" or such like for by the council the cleanliness of their toilets!

To use a toilet is a basic human need, we all need to and I find ALL the public toilets in Hertford an utter disgrace! I cannot believe that we feel its acceptable to attract visitors and others into the town. We all use the facilities and pay taxes to have these maintained. I am horrified and our EHDC should be shamed in this matter. I bet their council offices wouldn't put up with their staff toilets in that state would they!! I think this needs to be sorted asap! How can any decent human being think this is acceptable?

The problem may be that there are some using them who are not decent human beings.
