Maybe if they only have one branch they might have enough staff.

What astounds me is that I am a customer of the former Santander branch (the old Bradford and Bingley Office) and I only found out they'd closed by this Forum.. As a customer I am having to assume that my accounts are with the Maidenhead Street Branch.. I have had nor formal notification of this whatsoever! They may only be some leftover B&B savings accounts, but they are active and by that fact I am very surprised that noone has written or emailed or texted the customers to tell them if their accounts have been switched into the other branch. I know in this day and age of the internet you could assume that, but I know Santander well (as do other customers) and they don't have the best banking reputation of keeping their customers informed with a good service.. I shall pop in on Saturday and see where my money has gone!!!!

Good idea DQ. I paid off my mortgage, heard nothing for 3 weeks phoned them and they said that it was an oversight and they would send my deeds back to me. Sure enough they did 2nd class Royal Mail post!!!!!! not even registered after all those thousands of pounds I have paid to them(and Abbey National)over all those years.

Not telling you is one thing, however in this day and age surely you are not registered to a single branch, hence you can close your account in any branch. I have a Santander current account and have not stepped into a Santander branch in my entire life so I wouldn’t worry about your accounts.
