Virgin Media Broadband

Service has been dropping out repeatedly since about Thursday. Virgin Media advise it is a problem in "the area" affecting some 600+ subscribers! Is this true (before I start recabling my house!)?

We've had problems with ours since Friday (we live in Bengeo). Its been intermittent - was bad all of yesterday but seemed to be better this morning.

Better but not by much. I think there's less of us on line during the working day!

Its been a real pain dropping in and out and mainly out over the last few days. The status page on Virgin says good service in this area, the man at VM says fixed by 11am Tuesday having been a problem since the 11th. So it takes 5 days to fix whatever it is. Their technical helpline tells me "its a big cable!"

Yep - that's the story I got. I did actually ask that they update the service level display on the webs*ite from "good" to something more appropriate but that appears to have fallen on deaf ears. Do you think we'll get a rebate on our bill?

I kicked up a bit of a fuss on Saturday and was given £10 compensation

Definitely complain - the inlaws live in Hemel and were without a service for about 5 days and got £20 credited

Wilco - will advise any outcome! Service still pants as of now (10:03)-(just dropped out as I type this - so it'll probably get posted in about half an hour!)

Yes, been having problems with Virgin broadband myself. They told me on Saturday that it wouldn't be fixed until today. Got £10 knocked off my bill. Finger crossed, it seems to be OK now.

Mine's just gone. Anyone have a number I can call without having to go through a myriad of menus and entering a password? I hadn't had any problems for two weeks but I'm sick of this now.

Sorry - I just dial "150" on my Virginmedia 'phone line and go through the aforementioned rigmarole. It was all working fine when I left for work this morning. Does this mean it will all be squinky again when I get home? Is anyone else having issues? [:(]

Just phoned Virgin, told me that there is a fault in the whole area and have provisionally booked an engineer to attend my house on Saturday. I have just left them with the message that I expect a call with half and hour with a better answer!

Just checked online and an engineer is working on the problem and is scheduled to finish at 5:30pm. Good job I did not want to watch the first half!!!

Just had an automated phone call from VM telling me the fault I reported has now been fixed and any engineer visit I may have booked has now been fixed. As I have recently reported seperate TV and BB faults no idea which one or both?

I have just received the same message - mine related to broadband. I guess its all through the same cable.

I had a similar call informing me there is currently a fault on both TV & BB, I found myself shouting back to the recording "I know I effing told you lot" and put the phone down. Has not helped in improving my mood.

My internet connection is still down, I guess the crappy modem needs a power cycle.

Steve just incase have you rebooted the modem I.E. Remove the power lead from the modem and wait 2 mins and then plug it back in and wait a min or two for it to boot back up?

Yep, it just needed power cycling, I was in the office at the time of posting, I tunnel my web access from here through a proxy on my home network.

I have similar problems when there is a leak of tachions into the dilithium antimatter emitter causing potential for temporal flux to be generated in the warp core..[?]..[:D]
