Anyone got any ideas on the time scale for this development? Barratt homes don't even have it on their systems yet the signs are up? Anyone seen any plans, pictures etc?

The press reported that development would be phased over four years. It's not clear if Barratt are going to be building the existing approved scheme or submitting their own plans.

£189,995 for a 1 bed! They are having a laugh. The flats down mead lane haven't even sold fully yet. If they are smart, they will all be houses, Hertford has enough flats.

I love the images, from absolutely no where near the proposed the development. They give the impression the development is either in or close to the town. Farcical.

Noticed there was some kind of heavy plant in there yesterday, moving around this morning, so I'm guessing they might be demolishing some of the smaller out buildings mebbe. There were some landscapers doing something outside of the perimeter fence this morning as well. As you may gather we're fairly local to the development and have had zero communication from Barratt

Bland rectangular boxes. Still, there will be a lovely gateway with stone balls on top of the pillars so thats nice and in keeping. One apartment block looks like it will be c.50% 'affordable'. I'd love to know what actually means in ££ value.

Anyone know the time scale on these. Barratt told me they would have a show home up in late January but local estate agent told me not worth waiting for as 22 months off a home to live in and then at least 6 years off the development being finished. With the lack of 3-4 bed houses in Hertford i would think the sooner the better....

I would have thought the Estate Agent is nearer the mark than Barratts. Shame they aren't utilising the site purely for houses + expanding Wheatcroft, does Hertford need more flats? I'm guessing that when the inevitable feasibility study shows that there is no demand for a hotel then the hotel will become block 3 of flats. Looking at the plans all flat residents, and or hotel visitors as well as Nursing home workers visitors use one exit into Stansted Road and the housing residents use the other into Ware Road. Doesn't really seem fair.

The seperate access roads is to prevent it being used as a cut through from Stansted Rd to Ware Road That was why the police station had barriers fitted

The location and type of homes would be pertinant. For instance, if they were one bedroomed flats to the west of the town centre (the opposite side of town to The Pines). Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending the education authority here. The short-sightedness of the decision was pointed out to them at the time but they decided to go ahead anyway.

Whatever happened to the original developer. I can't remember the name but I'm sure it was something like Klingon Developments... Maybe I'm imagining it. They were looking to built a million 'micro-flats' or something costing around £350k each. The owner came on here acting all billy big boots and calling everyone carrot crunchers didn't he? Hopefully he's gone bust the jumped up little twonk. [:)]
