you can do this in hertford (and well done for doing so) because these children are probably the offspring of a lawyer or doctor and would p1ss their pants if things got punchy, but try doing this in London where I cycle everyday and you'll end up with a knife in your chest. I try to now reach a state of nirvana when cycling (especially when commuting) because its just too easy to get wound up by i) bad driving or ii) abuse as you experienced recently.

I cycle often through Hertford and Ware (and beyond) and have never experienced anything like this, well done for being brave but perhaps you should report them anyway?

Teenage bravado vs fragile middle-aged ego. I'm guessing if they'd got out and given you a kicking you wouldn't have bothered posting that story. Now you've thumped your chest in front of the troop you can imagine the the other chimps are suitably impressed. I'm not sure why you think anyone human was interested.

EoT I would hardly call hanging out of a car window 'bravado' - in fact its a cowardly act. I cycle a reasonable amount and have been verbally abused a few times, chased by car because I happened to get offended when the driver nearly killed me at a junction(in Tottenham) and had a number of bottles/cans etc. thrown at me for no reason at all apart from you're seen as an easy target by the bravados - sorry I mean cowards. For some reason cyclists are seen as social pariahs to some in our society as they stand out when (as some do regularly and I do occasionally) go through red lights putting themselves at danger whereas the motorist that screams through red lights while exceeding the speed limits are not subject to such hate - stand at the traffic lights by Tesco any evening in the week for examples of such behaviour.

This has been going on all summer. I guess to certain individuals its "cool" to shout verbal abuse out of moving car!

Your post was much less about telling the tale of the boy’s words and more of how you reacted to them. What you did wasn’t standing up to them. They’d gone. They weren’t there anymore. They were no threat. Yours was a tale of pursuit and revenge, albeit a petty one. You adopted an attitude of aggression, threats and intimidation And you’ve done the same in this thread. Elsewhere on this forum, your most recent posts have been notable for passive aggression. Your posts are peppered with snide personal digs and sneering derision. I’m noticing a pattern. Contrast your behaviour with that of shunt to one of your multi-edited posts, in a recent thread. That is an example how an emotional grown man responds to a petty jibe.

Yes , the relevance of comparing Ewoowar's action in Hertford to doing it in London or any other capital city in the world does escape me ? He done it in Hertford , we are only interested in the Hertford reaction , if he done it in New York it might have a different outcome too , so what ?????

I did have to look at the 'time' of your post, to check it wasn't you that I (and at least 3 others), almost knocked off a bike on the A10 as the bike had no back lights, riding next to another cyclist with no lights at all-in darkness this evening at 8pm? I felt physically sick at what might have been as i came off at the Hertford slip road. I just was so very glad the bike wasn't two seconds in front or it would have happened.

I have deleted all of my posts and if I could delete the original I would do so also. I live in Hertford, was verbally abused in Hertford, stood up for myself and told people on a Hertford forum about it. I wasn't after self gratification or appraisement. But one character here thinks that is wrong. If they had the gumption to do the same then good. If not then, you know very well what to do. Or perhaps not. Perhaps you will just garble about it on a web site, jump in when you had nothing to do with the situation in hand. It saddens me. So easy to write words, so easy to avoid the situation.
