I think sometimes when they are fitting or delivering,they don't have the staff to keep the shop open.

So put a sign in the window, maybe explaining the reason why the shop is closed and giving alternative contact information. It's not rocket science. Communication is a good thing, especially if your livelihood is involved.

We have used them and were very happy with the service, maybe they have problems with staff holidays but as you say there should be a notice to that effect. Keep trying as they are worth the effort.

Hi Steve Can't really comment on Hertford flooring too much as I haven't met Neil from there yet but we have fitted kitchens into mutual customer's homes and they have always been OK. The local alternatives to Hertford flooring worth a visit are Marshals in Fore Street and Direct carpets close to the Which building. Good luck with getting in touch with Hertford Flooring. CK

I know they are not in Hertford, but Byrver Carpets in Ware are very good, really very helpful, very friendly and always great to use.

I had the same experience a couple of weeks ago. Keen to use them as they've done a good job in the past, I waited for 45min with the kids until an hour after the advertised opening time, the phone needs to be forwarded to a mobile when they're out too. Disappointing that a local business is making it difficult for me to use them.

I have seen notes left in the glazed door before now. I have also seen people shoving hard at the door even though a note was staring them in the face. I do agree that within opening hours having the phone forwarded to a mobile would be beneficial for all, yet this does rely on their having a hands-free kit if driving. I've used them before more than once and have always found them helpful, positive and very good in their delivery. I shall use them again.

I have used Hertford Flooring on many occasions. Neil is excellent at recommending the right sort of carpet. His fitters (a father and son team) are some of the best tradesman I have ever come across. It does seem strange he doesn't have a sign up but I know he has been short staffed recently. Highly recommended.
