Flood alert for the River Lee at Hertford.

The levels are high from what I can see but not looking worrying yet.

I get these texts too. Shouldnt the floodplains just take the water if it reaches that point?

Hopefully. Though a lot is dependent upon the sluice gates in Hertford and further down the river.

Lower Hatfield Road had "Road Closed" sign up this morning so didn't risk it in case I know that road can get quite deep floods, although the car behind me continued anyway!
I went via Brickendon and the stream beside the road that has been dry for months was in full flow!
Yes I know thats not the Lee!
