Flat Share / House Share / Room to Let
Anyone have a room in a flat/house to rent out for a young friend of mine? He's a 19 year old trainee chef, working 6 days a week and needs somewhere in Hertford/Bengeo to stay. His employers are paying the deposit, and the 1st months rent. His maximum monthly budget including bills is £275 or close to that.
I've been keeping an eye on the flatshare / property type websites for him but not a lot in Hertford for his budget.
The Camelot Property (guardians) on Port Vale would have been ideal but we've not heard back from them.

Saw it last night, very pokey, the bathroom was very dirty, (6 tenants in the house sharing that bathroom) and no running hot water at all! I think he can do better than that :)

to put his budget into perspective, the service charge on my flat is 175 quid a month (for which I basically get nothing).
he wants a room, facilities, and his bills included for only 100 quid more.
I think he had better get a bus timetable for routes from Stevenage or Harlow to Hertford to be honest...

I'm quite hopeful actually, there's quite a few rooms out there for £300-£350 in Hertford, yet out of the dozen or so I found today only 1 allowed tenants under 20. I've had a few people (and B&Bs) tell me they let rooms for £50 a week and/or £20 or less a night so with a little perseverance I'm sure I can come up with something.
The Camelot property (Port Vale) is £55 per month! I thought that was a typo, but apparently not!

it's a live-in Guardian scheme. It's basically meant as a scheme for property owners to prevent squatters & vandalism by having someone living there temporarily during periods of unoccupancy. They ise it for schools, churches, care homes etc.

Indeed, I was discusing Camelot properties last night after walking past the sign for the last 3 months. I had no idea. I suppose if it's only for a short period it could be alright, but I've heard they don't give much notice when it comes to moving you on.
