Police Helicopter
Noticed the Police helicopter earlier in the evening west of Hertford with it's searchlight.
Just seen the following on Facebook from Herts Police:
Friday 10th Feb at 2315hrs the helicopter deployed to the Hertford area to search for a male, thought to be on the railway line. After an extensive search by the aircraft and officers on the ground, the male was finally located, by the helicopter, near a river to the north of Hertford. Officers were talked on to his location, where he was detained. CASU2061

Thanks Steve. Just talking about this at the moment. They were searching high and low when I watched out of the window, the 'night sun' was everywhere.

Hope they make the most of it. With the new National Police Air Support on the way the police will be getting less helicopter availability.

We won't be getting less coverage under the new national system, we'll be getting no coverage, yet still paying for it. NPAS (National Police Air Service) will close the Herts and Beds. base and sell the helicopter, relying on coverage by the Met aircraft (already overstretched in London). NPAS are saying that this is an improvement, yet the aircraft can currently reach anywhere in Herts and Beds within 12 minutes, which is why it's so effective. To make savings, NPAS are closing the two busiest bases, us and Merseyside. If you search on Facebook for "Save the Herts and Beds Police Helicopter" there is a campaign to try to stop the closure.

The helicopter spent about an hour over bengeo from about 8.15pm and between 8.15 and 9.15 there were 4 or 5 police cars going towards the bottom of new road! Must be something major!

Relative of mine said there were several police in the back garden of a house on corner of New Rd and Revels Rd. No idea what was going on though.

That's "B-Bengeo" with two "B's" don't y'know my dear old thing. Perhaps one of those who can't afford servants to do it put the recycling bin out on the wrong day?
