Hertfordshire Graphics Art Shop

Sadly, through this Forum, we have to announce the closure of our retail Art Shop at the end of January. We have successfully traded in St.Andrew Street for twenty years and have enjoyed being an active member of this friendly and positive community. Hertfordshire Graphics is not closing as a business; from February we will be based in offices at our friends at Natural Health, Old Cross. Here we wish to continue our successful business to business commercial Graphics and Stationery operations, as well as developing and expanding our fledgling greetings card operation, www.origimage.co.uk The reasons for our retail closure are no different from the well documented discussions locally and nationally. It has been a very hard decision to make. However, as a small company, Hertfordshire Graphics is anxious to continue to make a contribution to the community of Hertford as a whole, and we wish our fellow retailers well in these particularly difficult and challenging times.

That's very sad news indeed. Hertfordshire Graphics is one of the friendliest little shops I know of anywhere - helpful, knowledgeable staff, and always ready to share a joke! I'm so glad you're still keeping the business going Arty, good luck in the new premises. - Onwards and upwards!

Sorry to hear that also. Whilst you might not recognise me, I've used your shop a fair few times, even if I just needed a single small item. However, as you say, not closed for business just different premises and another fledgling business. So congrats!

I work with Arty at HG and have been working today in the shop, it has been very touching to hear customers who are genuinely sorry that we are closing, one regular customers was almost in tears. I unfortunately won't be joining Arty in his new venture. Thanks to everyone for the kind words.

That is sad. One of the few 'proper shops' in Hertford (as opposed to a coffee shop / estate agent / nail bar etc). Hertford will be (even) worse off without you - glad you have a successful B2B operation to continue with.

I am not an artist, but have a niece of 5 who has real talent, and it was lovely to buy some lovely crayons/pastels, drawing pencils and art paper in scrolling bound note pad for her after school art club christmas present from me. I am so sorry to see it go but I wish the proprietors of the shop all the very best for any future ventures and hope that you are a success again.

Thank-you to everyone here on the Forum, and people that have visited the shop, for the kind responses to our sad news. We have been very humbled by the good wishes, and have felt very priviledged to be part of the Hertford community. We're going to try and keep the retail art shop open until the end of January - but of course, if there are millions of pounds of sales coming in... Well, we'll have to 'play it by ear' as the saying goes.

Sad to see you go Arty. I will always be grateful to you for letting me display my cakes in your shop window [as art] it did bring more people into the shop even if they did keep asking you to sell them a cake.. I wish you all the very best for the future. It is totally understandable why it is so hard to run a shop in Hertford now with the parking issues and the competition from internet sales. xx

We will be closing the shop today, Wednesday 7th March, to vacate by the end of the month. We will probably be having a Fixtures and Fittings sale day before then, TBA. Our commercial business to business will continue, as previously discussed!
