Has anyone else noticed a helicopter flying over Hertford later on on the day recently? I saw it yesterday and today. Yesterday it had a great big spotlight. There was another helicopter tonight but I didn't look out to see if it had a spotlight.

The helicopter last night was the police helicopter, somewhere over the south of the town. I've not seen one this evening.

It seems to come sporadically. You don't see it for months on ened and then several times in a couple of weeks.

I don't know if there's a Heliport or something near here, but we're definitely on the main helicopter flight route to London. We have at least 2 or 3 helicopters a day flying past over the valley between Cuffley & Goffs Oak. There was one that came from the direction of Hertford yesterday evening, around 7pm that had a spotlight on the front. It definitely wasnt the police helicopter though, as it was blue and not the black & yellow of the Fuzzcopter.

I heard once that helicopters on the way from London to Hanbury Manor use a route over Hertford.

I believe that the most frequent (and noisest) helicopters may be a shuttle between Stansted and Gatwick. They fly several times a day, passing over Bengeo

We were 'offered' aerial photographs of our shop recently. Maybe other wealthy Hertford Shopkeepers have taken up this 'must-have' offer and hence the helicopter. ps the words 'pinch' and 'salt' should be applied to parts of this post, please.

I had this beast http://www.raf.mod.uk/equipment/merlin.cfm buzz my house at about 300ft, if that, yesterday afternoon. The noise was amazing. No idea why it was flying so low, but it was a great site watching it come down the valley and then bank right, straight over the house. Biggest non-Chinook helicopter I've ever seen.
