It is alleged that News Corp hacked in to the computer of a dead soldier who was killed in action in Afghanistan. Now Hatfield Police are investigating the death of an ex-News Corp reporter. How far is this from our doorsteps......? So still not Hertford then. Don't get me wrong - my heart goes out to the family but I'm not sure what new element of this alleged story there is to discuss on a local forum that is not already being flogged to death on every type of media 24 hours a day.

I seem to remember in a previous forum that a cider festival was mentioned in St Albans. I suppose this puts Murdoch, Cameron, the Met Police etc in the shadows......

I've highlighted "Hertford" because this is what is meant by local. This is clearly not a Hertford issue, which is why it was removed the first time you posted it, as was explained to you. There are plenty of places to discuss this very important issue. However, Discover Hertford Online is not one of them. This is a national (if not international) story in which Hertford plays no specific role. Therefore it is not a valid topic for discussion.

Well, would you believe it....even today's Mercury (Page 2) considers the Murdochs worthy of deliberation and Debbie Lemay writes in the LETTERS section on page 8.... Page 1 reports that James Murdoch will continue to serve as a non-executive director of Glaxo in Ware. I suppose no Hertford residents are employed by that company ....? So our "ADMIN MAN" believes that even though this issue is of both national and INTERNATIONAL importance it does not embrace Hertford? POPPYCOCK !

Would that be the Hertfordshire Mercury, the one that is not specific to Hertford and therefore may logically choose to cover a story related to a Ware employer? I am sure many Hertford residents are employed by GSK. Though the link is somewhat tenuous. James Murdoch is an independent non-executive director, one of many. At this point even though it is a matter of national and international importance I struggle to see any direct and relevant link between it and Hertford aside from your own desire to discuss it.

The ex NOTW reporter was found dead at his home in Watford. There is no link with this story and Hertford... stop trying to make Hertford sound exciting. The most interesting thing that happens here is there is a tunnel under the town or something. And Federicl Forsyth lived near here for a bit. Whoopee.

Perhaps we're missing an opportunity here. What this topic needs is something of which this forum has a long and noble tradition. Which other internet forum can bring to bear the razor intellect and laser-like insight of Hertford's finest halfwitted blowhards. A topic of such national importance demands a uniquely Hertford perspective, distilled into an ill informed, incoherent rant. A diatribe bashed out in front of a saliva spattered computer screen, peppered with unnecessary CAPITALISATION and liberal overuse of the exclamation mark!!!!! I for one can't wait to quote the whole lot in a 3m long scroll down in a post to which I omit a reply.

I wouldn't have thought that Hertford would be the main target audience for the NOTW but yes I'm sure someone must have bought it.... plus I'm sure that at some point in its 164yr (made-up fact!) Hertford was mentioned in it at some point. Possibly twice!!

Hey Tiger, how about the bomb in Norway? Surely that must have some vital link to Hertford? I'm sure someone from Hertford might have been to Norway once. I used to own a woolly jumper. And I quite like mackerel.
