Has any else been to Caffe Yum? We went recently and were very disappointed to be served with stale croissants. The staff didn't seem to care so we emailed the manager to complain. That was over 2 weeks ago and still no reply..... Neither the food nor the service seem to match their website's claim. As far as scoring is concerned, no points all round. Shame, as we do like to support local businesses. Thank goodness for Serendipity (we haven't tried the new cafe on St Andrew's Street yet).

By 'new cafe on St Andrew Street' do you mean behind Rigsby's? This has been open as a tea room for some time. There's now a new sign advertising Rigsby's Piano bar.

Rubbish! It closed recently and has re-opened under completely new management as the Piano Bar as previously stated.

Caffe Yum - I have been giving it a wide berth since it took 40 minutes for one coffee and two milk shakes to arrive. When I ordered, I was told it would be 20 minutes after they had taken my order and money - but 40 minutes !!! There were only about 4 other people in the place. The general attitude and friendliness of the staff are definitely lacking something

I am a big fan of the ice cream section - the After Eight milkshake is fabulous. I've always found the staff to be perfectly pleasant and helpful

Cafe Yumm is next to the Library, the other cafe, now called something else, is behind Rigsby's B&B and used to the be the old HDOS drama HQ till 1982 !!!

I have to agree with Newgirl. I really want to support the local enterprise but being just one of three people in there one morning and waiting for over twenty minutes for (I forget what it was I ordered!)......only to go to the counter and find that they had forgotten me and my food was burning...........not good at all. However I have heard it has improved. The outside seating area is pleasent too and the fruit smoothies are also good.

I like Yum Yum, they do nice milkshakes :) My favourite has to be chocolate digestive ;) Always massive queues. My friend waited at least 20 minutes in the queue!

I hate to say it but I feel Cafe Yum is poor at best. Have given up using it now. Go elsewhere for my coffee and cake now.

I still have no idea whether this thread is about Cafe Yum or Piano Bar Cafe. It appears some people are commenting on one and other people on the other. I've come to the conclusion that a cafe (possibly somewhere in Hertford) is very good, is very poor, has recently opened, gone down hill lately, has been the subject of an EH enforcement, does lovely milkshakes, great chocolate cake, has inattentive staff......

Stopped at the traffic lights a couple of days ago and noticed that Cafe Yum was open and serving. Also pleased to see that the unnecessary apostrophes in the words teas and coffees etc., have at last been removed from their windows, leaving gaps between the letters. lol

Oh my, Cafe yum was dreadful. The lady with the brown wavy/curly hair was just awful terrible customer service. We wanted cream teas which were on their menu and they werent aware of what it was. So we told them. We then got a scone and butter. When told again what it came with they ran over some jam. Then we asked about the clotted cream and we were told sorry we havent got any. They shouted at us as we were wrong?!!?!! I actually filmed it on my phone as I was astounded at the poor customer treatment! DO NOT GO THERE

I have spent a fortune on kids milkshakes in there since they opened. I went in a few weeks ago with my 2 years old and 6 year old and noticed a sign on the door stating ‘parents must supervise their children at ALL time’. Totally agree so no problem there at all! After ordering and sitting down to wait 20 minutes my 2 year old naturally is bored and just walks around OUR table to his brother a few times. No harm to any of the customers. The middle aged woman with the dark hair, who was serving that day, proceeds to stare and tutt at us and watched him like a hawk the entire time we were in there. I have spent literally a fortune in there and will never go in again. How dare she make me feel like my child is not good enough for her café. Best of luck to her but I think she needs to look around and take a look at the competition she has in Hertford and perhaps realised she has set up a business in a very family orientated town!

Went in once for luke warm, wishy washy, coffee. Not been since. What I find difficult to comprehend is how an establishment engendering such universal approbrium has survived this long. Either it is supported entirely by my non-critically minded teenage son and his cohorts or it isn't as bad as all that?

just to let you all know that the middle aged woman with brown curly hair is the owner if cafe yum....(laura).........yes the kitchen was closed down due to flies in the kitchen I find the service bad and she is very rude and does not have any customer service knowledge DONT GO THERE!!!!!!

What a shame. It would have taken so little to put right:- noticing that competitors do not charge 30p extra for decaffienated, for instance.
