Anyone know what's going on here? www.midherts.com

Perhaps in the interest of the clubs and league it's best not to open discussion up to a wider, more public forum. Changes were always on the cards. Speak to the head of age group for more information.
Reply ID 81508
Unfortunately you don't always get helpful responses from heads of age groups - some being better than others Is this something we should be interested in and which would affect our children?
Reply ID 81509
If it's on the website it's in the public domain and therefore open to discussion. I'm not interested specifically in my son's age group (havn't had an answer anyway). I want to know what's prompted all these resignations and if it's something that will affect my son's club/team. Have you got a good reason for suggesting it should be kept quiet?
Reply ID 81512
Maybe they were all involved in the World Cup bribery scandal that has been in the news this week??
Reply ID 81513
Ahem..........Nora and Newgirl......I will nudge the head of age group in the direction of a communication regarding the resignations.

Excellent. He/she can also post it on here.

Your AGM should be able to issue you with a copy of the MHRML Chairman's report and a comment from the club committee
Reply ID 81516
The website states "Following on from the recent SGM". Is that a typo that should read AGM. Or is an SGM some sort of EGM?

quote:I think it was an SGM. Suffice to say that despite the MHRML being accessible publicly whatever has happened is probably of interest only to those who either play for a club in one of their leagues or who have a child playing in one of their leagues. I think discussing it here is similar to discussing primary school politics and we all know how beneficial and interesting that would be to the rest of the forum. Contact your head of age group and ask for an explanation. If you don't get the response you expect or need you should email the head of the club and all these contact details are available.

This might affect a lot of kiddies and parents with the new season approaching so some further information needs to come out. I hope it is not a case of lack of funding from Herts FA or a breakaway group trying to start a rival league.

quote:All clubs affiliated to the MHRML should have a responsibility to communicate changes to the parents of the children playing in their teams. It is remiss if they do not do so. The changes communicated on the MHRML web site are not neccessarily negative. Let's wait for the club communications.

quote:I disagree. Don't assume that it's not of interest to anyone else - it could affect a lot of families. It might not. But to say "is similar to discussing primary school politics and we all know how beneficial and interesting that would be to the rest of the forum" could be considered arrogant. It's not for you to say what is and what isn't of interest to forum readers. The number of children playing in this league is similar to a primary school community, and if a significant number of staff and/or governers resigned from a primary school in one go without saying why, I think it would be a valid forum discussion point. Most of the topics on this forum are of no interest to me whatsoever, but I wouldn't assume that because I think that, everyone thinks that way; and I don't offer myself as a spokesperson for the forum readers.

quote:The fact is that the clubs affiliated to the MHRML have channels of communication to inform the coaches and parents of the children in their teams of issues that may affect them. I would dare to say that this is their responsibility. MHRML have affiliated leagues and clubs within those leagues. If your son is in one of those clubs then they should be in contact with you and you have a right to raise a question with one of the many coaches, the head coach or the club management. The same could be said regarding channels of communication for local primary schools which is why I drew the comparison. Relatively closed groups of interest. The difference between this and other forum subjects is that most of them are not covered by formal channels of communication, as the local football leagues are. I simply don't see what can be gained from raising this matter that cannot be achieved far more successfully by using the accepted channels, i.e. your team coach and the club management. If you have asked them already and received scant or negative response then perhaps your post is understandable. If you have any further reason for raising public awareness of the resignations and feel they need to be communicated beyond those who are actually involved with MHRML or the clubs involved then please feel free to elaborate. I've said it many times.........this is kids football. This isn't FIFA.

Stop patronising, Ewoowar. One could argue that every Forum Topic has a restricted interest and who are you to say what should and should not be aired here? Nora has raised a query of local interest and each response from you has, frankly, suggested that you have something to hide as you have sought to close this subject. Quite remarkable for someone who has had over 4,000 comments to make on a vast range of other subjects concerning many other local people. If you have an interest then be so kind as to declare it and stop seeking to act as Forum Censor. Your attempts to shut this topic are making local schoolboy politics as transparent as FIFA.

All you had to do, Ewoowar, was ignore the post and it would have disappeared into history along with all the other non-starter threads. As Woody says, it now looks like you doth protest too much. I doubt you do know anything more than I do about this, but you've dug yourself a hole! I'm going to try and set the little purple folder/briefcase thing on fire now! Arson!

I merely point out the stark, staring obvious fact that if Nora genuinely wanted to know what was going on at MHRML she perhaps should contact the head coach of her child's age group and ask directly. He does, after all, attend the MHRML meetings. The fact that Nora herself suggests that this is just another non-starter thread that would disappear if ignored is testimony to the fact that it is probably of very little interest to anyone not who does not have a child at one of the Hertford clubs that participate in a MHRML league. I don't protest and nor am I attempting to hide anything. If there was something to hide I wouldn't be telling people where they can go to find the information. I believe the original question posted was "Anyone know what's going on here?", with a link to the MHRML web site. I have answered the question several times. "Yes". Your childs coaches, head of age group and club management should know. Why post a question and then argue with the blatantly obvious and simple answer if you don't want to accept it? Why bother? None of you can argue that I haven't answered the question. I cannot answer it fully myself as I don't have the information so I have advised as to where the full answer can be sourced. I just wonder why these contact points were not used in the first place unless, of course, the purpose of the original post was an expose. Rather than question whether I have anything to hide, Woody, perhaps it is more worth questioning the purpose of making the original post. And please don't try to tell me what I can and cannot write. I still say, for those with children at clubs affiliated to the MHRML you can contact your club. For those without a child at an affiliated club and who have a pressing need to get to the bottom of the matter you can always contact MHRML directly. Hey....and when you have the information you can post it on here for all to read.

There have been issues with the MHRML. The Herts FA, Remaining Committee members and some member clubs are working together to ensure that everything is ready for the new season starting in September.

Thanks Lee, and Loving Whale. The key thing is that there is support to ensure football for all those involved for next season. And it sounds like people are working hard to make sure that is done.

quote:Woody. What is the problem here? Just when this thread gets back to a modicum of sensibility and seems to return to the very purpose of the original post what we really need is someone quoting 'double-speak' and trying to stick hot pokers in. Yeah, I did O level English Lit too. Hells bells, what's next? Lord of the Flies? Brighton Rock? If you have something to add that is actually relevant to the original post then great......if not then why bother smarting for a virtual scrap? I don't get it. Add something of value. Do you really have an interest in MHRML and their goings on? If not then your interest in this thread is questionable. Why seek to argue so vehemently against someone who has only tried to answer the question posed in the original post? Like I said, go back to the original post, the question that was asked, which I answered, suggesting that Nora seek answers from those at her childs club or who attended the meeting. Hey presto! the answers finally posted here came from a similar source. Scarey science? Nahhhh.....not really. Let's put this to bed. I think the original question has been answered and you and I serve nothing by thrashing about, waving our opinions around the forum. Arguing here serves nothing.

This thread was about changes to the Mid Herts Rural Minors League. I have no idea why it has transformed into a petty argument. If you are at all interested in the changes please see the threads above and contact your club representatives.

Oh dear. Setting aside my young son who lives and breathes football and my interest in this topic - though you couldn't help yourself in condescendingly suggesting that I had no interest could you? Maybe it is just me that finds your tone patronising and only me being unwilling to accept your condescending keyboard manner - amply illustrated in each of your responses. No, I don't want to argue but I won't accept cyber-bullying either - as I have found some of your remarks to be. If you post a comment that another finds disagreeable then expect a response or to be challenged - you seem to keep seeking to end such response to anyone challenging your comments by taking some higher ground on your keyboard and by throwing little digs, rather than responding rationally. I suggest you follow your own preaching and read back through some of your own comments before throwing stones. If you must have the last word on each topic then fine, but please do so without the condescendence.

Otherwise I question why you persist with your interest, particularly with my posts. What exactly is your point? What is the problem with such a simple approach to a simple issue? Are you really interested in the internal politics of the MHRML? Really? Your son loves football, which is great, but if he is not part of a club affiliated to one of their leagues then what is the issue because the changes at MHRML won't affect him? It just smacks of picking a petty argument to justify your initial comment. And I won't accept comments such as 'cyber-bullying'.....all I ever did on this thread was answer a question yet I received a negative response. Furthermore when I have tried to end the matter it is continued. I must ask, once again.........should we not just let it lie? If you have a passion for childrens football and for the MHRML contact the league or a relevant coach. You sound genuinely impassioned so please take it up with the league as I'm sure your interest would be valued and sincerely appreciated. And don't think I'm being flippant as I really mean it. If you are genuinely interested then your local club or league should bite your hand off. They really need all the help they can get and I think any offer of help would be appreciated. I'm seriously trying to be positive here. Admin. I think this topic is turning toxic and I think it better if it was closed/locked. From what I read, Nora's thread was started with real and genuine concern for the situation of a lot of families who have children involved in the sport, which must stretch into the many thousand of kids. She was simply looking for a bit of help and I am sure her first port of call would have been the coach/manager/club secretary/other parents. For those who have added absolutley nothing positive I am confused as to the intentions.
