Sunday Lunch
We are planning a family lunch in Hertford for this Sunday but cannot get into the Sailsbury Arms. As a alternative we were thinking about either the House Kitchen or Bluecoats? Has anyone eaten at these establishments before? Any feedback would be great.
Or if you could suggest anywhere else that would also be great.
Have tried the Cowper Arms and they are also full..

I've not had a Sunday lunch at Bluecoats but have eaten there a few times now - food has been excellent although it is a little dearer than the Salisbury. In my opinion its the best restaurant (food wise) in Hertford.

I made a similar enquiry on here a couple of months back. The Rose and Crown at Tewin was recommended and it was very good. It's a carvery if that's what you're looking for

the first (and last) time we went to the House Kitchen, we waited 20 minutes for a menu/waitress to acknowledge our presence, and then left.

Short and sweet Sunday Lunch reviews:
Baroosh – been twice, first time it was above average second time poor: overcooked beef, overcooked vegetables and undercooked potatoes.
Salisbury Arms – food in general is pretty good. I have had Sunday lunch once – great beef and potatoes but vegetables had been cooked to within an inch of its life and then some more. I would have liked parsnips but likely they would have been blasted too.
The Grandison – I’ve been a few times here and it’s the most expensive but, for me, it’s the best place, their beef is amazing and tender and I still consider it a treat when we have booked here (do book ahead).
I’ll try some of the others mentioned here, anyone done Tewinbury on a Sunday as their food is usually a very good standard?

The best Sunday Lunch i have had in the area is the white horse in wareside. Never lets me down great choice including fish.

The White Horse at Wareside is my local and you can guarantee great food and service. The best home cooked sunday lunch for miles. Current specials are Rabbit Pie and Kentucky Fried Pigeon [:D]

We had a Sunday lunch at Tewin Bury Farm last week and the beef was cooked beautifully, melt in the mouth.

The best Sunday Lunch in teh area has to be round my house. Unfortunately, if your names not down, you're not coming in :-)
