Town centre is horrible with compacted snow. I have heard they are gritting the pavements now though

If you are heading out towards Hatfield the outside of the A414 is still very compacted with snow.
Car was showing -11 at 7 this morning!

Who is responsible for for filling grit bins on residential roads? We have a couple on our road which were emptied by some of our overzealous neighbours following Saturday's snow fall.

Changes to refuse, recycling and composting collections - December 2010
Introduction
Because of the severe weather and in the interests of everyone's safety - both the public and collection teams - we are only able to carry out limited collections of black bins this week.
Main roads such as bus routes are more likely to get collections than side roads.
This week – pre-Christmas
Put out your bins and boxes as usual according to your calendar and we will collect them if we can.
Next week – post-Christmas
Monday, December 27 – Bank Holiday – no collections
Tuesday, December 28 – Bank Holiday – no collections
Wednesday December 29 to Friday December 31
Check your Calendar for the Bank Holiday collection changes.
1) If it's your recycling week, put out your black bin – not your brown bin - and we'll collect it. This is so we can collect black bins from everyone who missed a collection this week due to snow. We'll also collect paper, cans, glass and plastic bottles in your blue and green boxes.
Or
2) If it's your black bin week, put out your black bin according to your collection calendar and we'll collect it.
The above is all subject to changes if the weather deteriorates.
