Snow Reports: Saturday
Please use this thread to post information about road and pavement conditions in and around Hertford.
From what I can determine snow, is settling on all roads in the town centre, making driving hazardous.

Nelson Street and Byde Street currently extremely difficult to drive up. Walked up instead - pavements don't seem to bad as the snow is not compact yet.

I've just come back from a return trip to Cole Green and the main roads aren't yet too bad but they are getting worse even in the 30 minutes it took me to get there and back. Side roads don't appear to have had so much grit but are OK with the soft snow but I wouldn't fancy driving on them when they get compacted. Traffic is understandably slow moving but keeping going. Some impatient drivers around still.
My advice would be that if you're uncertain then don't go out and remember the advice about taking some spare clothes, shovel, drink etc!! Further bit of advice is to make sure you have enough petrol for the trip - driving in low gears burns the fuel.

A414 up London Road from town towards the Mercedes garage is gridlocked and traffic seems to be sliding down the hill a lot.

Pegs Lane and Welwyn Road are getting gridlocked as cars not being able to get up the hills

Of all my friends that have had a serious crash/written their car off, they have all without exception been driving in snow/ice conditions.
It's probably the scrooge in me but I can't understand why someone would risk having a serious accident by driving in compacted snow/ice unless you really had no choice about it.
