Weapon of choice
Am I reading this report right?

Logically the term 'offensive weapon' is not limited to knives and baseball bats. It can be any object that can be used offensively to endanger others (I'm sure a policeman can provide the correct terminology and criteria).
Within my immediate view (and no comments please!) I can see a tea pot, an iron, ironing board, vdu, laptop, speakers, a jar full of coins, a plate, a yahama keyboard, a bottle of water, scanner, a lamp............oh the list can go on.............the point is that all of these are offensive weapons if used offensively.

And aren't registered boxers' hands classed as offensive weapons if used on the street? Or is that an urban myth?

I think a picket fence would be OK for close quarters 'hand to hand' fighting but for heavy battle scenarios it has to be the 'post and rail' which is much sturdier!

No, if in an altercation the 'reasonable force' rule will apply, as it does to anyone.
