Anyone have experience of living there? I'm tempted, as it seems an ok place and is closer to London but I just want to know if anyone has experience of living there. It seems to be the bungalow capital of Hertfordshire, so does that mean it's full of old people? It's obviously the opposite of Hertford, having just one pub, so I'm worried it may just be a little quiet!

It is very quiet but not without its occasional problems........... http://www.gazetteandherald.co.uk/news/71448.0/ Although I haven't lived there I have spent quite some time in the village and personally I find it somewhat characterless.

I can't say I've lived there, but I worked as a estate agent in the area for a time and an uncle by marriage had a house there. My impression is that it has a high proportion of, shall I say, pretentious persons with money, but little or no class. My own view is that for the kind of money Cuffley properties fetch, you could buy a lot nicer elsewhere and still have good London links. Getting out of Cuffley by road in the morning is no better than here. Crews Hill and White Webbs are just a queue, as is College Road into Cheshunt.

The only interesting thing about Cuffley is that a Zeppelin crashed there in 1916. Probably fell out of the sky through sheer boredom.

I used to have a job that covered an area including Cuffley. It's inoffensive enough, pretty characterless. The thing I remember is that EVERYBODY claimed to have had their car shunted by David Beckham driving a sports car or 4x4. The story went that he was en-route to the in-laws who live in Goffs Oak I think, and he was always very charming and apologetic and settled in cash. It was an urban myth but it seemed to me that you couldn't call yourself a Cuffley resident unless you'd had a Beckham rear-end shunt! [:)][;)]

never lived there either but I do drive through twice and 3 times a week and the best time is is between 5 and 6 am after that it becomes nearly as difficult as Hertford, every road out is very busy......... Very good for celebrity and footballer spotting I understand and the occasional Tesco executive![;)] Like everywhere else what its like probably depends on which part you live in.

I lived in Cuffley for some time and still have close links as family live there still. Cuffley is a commuter town simple as that and new money. The junior school there is very good, and st ed's college provides a bus service pick from there too (not sure what other schools do from there). The pub is split into two, the smaller bar attracting the rowdy lads of Cuffley rfu and the larger side attracting the dads who want a night out. The restaurants are all ok but nothing to travel for. There is the local parish council who provide regular news updates and manage the town pretty well. A monthly news letter is sent out and updates on goings on including crime. The biggest crime problem in Cuffley in recent years was the number of cars being stolen off of peoples drives where the thieves broke into the house and stole the keys. It was a north London gang who we caught doing this. There was also a body found in the woods towards potters bar of some albanian gangster. When the trains aren't working or late at night you can get the train to potters bar home then a cab for about £10. there are some decent walks through the woods and the scout camp is one of the biggest around. I would never use the petrol station in the town as a number of friends and family have had their card details ripped off after buying fuel there. As for celebrity spotting…..i lived there 10yrs, give or take, and wouldn't ever call it a celebrity hang out. I do know that there are a few Tottenham footballers there and their agent, one of the Tottenham owners, a few TV producers and Sir T from Tesco and most of the other board members too. The views from the houses on the south side of The Ridgeway are amazing and add some major value to the property. If that's you cuppa tea move to Cuffley…...
