Alworths
As rumoured in another thread, Alworths are opening in the former Woolworth store in Maidenhead Street next month.
The information is now appearing in their Facebook page:

The chain is run by ex-Woolworths head of stores Andy Latham.
Alworths sell the same mix of products as Woolworths and opened it's first store in Didcot on 5th November 2009, the 100th anniversary of the opening of the first Woolworths in Britain.

Blimey! The Dentists in Hertford will be reaping the benefits of all this 'sweetness' for years to come.
First W H Smiths leapt in with their version of Pick n mix, then there was the new sweet shop in Maidenhead Street, last month another in Fore Street, now Alworths with an 'awesome' pick n mix.
Add to that the hundred or so places to buy a Milkshake and you have the Cavities capital of the U.K.
I know we all want the empty shops filling, but we meant....
Still, better than Estate Agents or Hairdressers I guess!

I see it opened today, lots of balloons and bags around, didn't go in myself as I had someone waiting for me but will do in the very near future.

My son asked me for some extra pocket money so he may go and try out this new store.
So I, in turn, spoke to my employers and asked for a short term increase in my salary so I may try out a new shop. The answers to both were suprisingly similar.
(ok, I didn't actually speak to my employers but you get my drift)
