Hertford Museum
I enjoyed my first visit today since it re-opened. There's lots to see for such a small museum and apart from all the local stuff you'd expect to see, it was good to rediscover a lot of the familiar idiosyncratic objects of old. In my opinion no museum would be complete without it's own yellowing tiger's skull, stuffed horny toad or stuffed owl shot locally around the begining of the last century!
There's a vast collection of old Hertford Photographs which would take hours to look through, and there's an exhibition of exquisite etchings of sheep by Henry Moore. -Don't miss it.
I can't help thinking that we never hear enough of our local connection with Henry Moore. You'd think we'd have one of his in a park or something. Just a thought.

Seem to remember that there was a Henry Moore in a local school playing fields, but I might be wrong, could have been in Stevenage..

There are a few dotted around Harlow - everyone should visit the Henry Moore Foundation at Perry Green - it's fantastic. You can roam around his house and studios and then walk across the sheep filled fields and climb on some huge sculptures.
Lunch at The Hoops after is fab [:D]

There used to be a Henry Moore at the entrance to the Barclay School in Stevenage - one of the 'family' series if I remember correctly.

I think one in Harlow is now in-doors as it got vandalised
