Almost three years ago, Mr Cameron appointed Hertford and Stortford MP Mark Prisk as "shadow minister for Cornwall".... The WMN also revealed Mr Prisk claimed up to £300 a time in Commons expenses to drive to Cornwall despite there being no "minister for Cornwall" for him to shadow. He has highlighted his pedigree as a "born and bred Cornishman" who wants to "make sure the needs of Cornwall are heard loud and clear". Wouldn't a cornish constituency be more appropriate for the dedicated Mr Prisk? It would certainly be more reasonable for a tax-payer funded second home. I've asked him this question on Twitter @Mark_Prisk http://bit.ly/avIuA9 Is this article accurate? As an East Herts MP Is it reasonable to claim expenses for trips to Cornwall?

Five years ago, Prisk's face was never out of the Mercury as he raised a successful profile and, impressively, he was the only candidate that came knocking on my door for a chat. Yet nowadays, when we demand visibility as well as transparency he is hardly to be seen and all we hear is that he travels regularly to Cornwall and has expensive plumbing issues at his homes. Mr Prisk has never knocked on my door for a chat, wisely perhaps, but I can never recall a time when he had a high local profile, any more than Bowen Wells, his equally unremarkable predecessor. Hertford & Stirtford is a sinecure for Tory hacks and without some very radical boundary changes will stay that way more the pity

I'm getting a sense of complacency from Mark Prisk; a feeling of being taken for granted. Perhaps he presumes that the 25000 who voted for him at the last election did so blindly because he was the Conservative candidate; that none of them mind that they pay for a city flat because his living 35 miles from Westminster is too far for him to "give best service". When neighbouring MPs in marginal seats seem to manage. Perhaps he thinks that none of them mind his passion for his home county of Cornwall is more readily expressed than his commitment to his constituency. Perhaps he thinks no one is cares when he dallies over a serious question but snaps back a reply to trivia. Perhaps he is right.

Council leaders have vowed to clamp down on second home owners in Cornwall who might try to vote in the county. It follows concerns from a local MP that people with permanent homes elsewhere could swing elections. Around one in 20 households across Cornwall is a second home and owners receive a council tax discount. Councillors have voted to allow officers to more closely question electoral register applications from properties listed as second homes. Cornwall council officials will now be able to ask how long the potential voter spends in the county to decide whether they should be allowed on to the register. He abstained. And 5 out of the 11 said no. It doesn't look like he is attempting any sort of two way conversation on twitter which in my view is what he should be doing. They are supposed to work for us but if they don't even respond to comments they are not doing a very good job. He should just leave twitter if all he is going to do is comment on all the "good stuff" he is doing and retweet when people are nice to him. I am aware twitter is a PR tool (it is my field of work) but people have expectations of responses on Twitter.

He's just like his predecessor Bowen Wells. Course he didn't vote. Bowen Wells once blocked me in for two hours in an otherwise empty car park in which he could have parked anywhere. I was livid by the time he came back to his car. So I shouted at him and called him an arrogant, selfish ****. His response: 'Do you know who I am?' My reply can't be recounted here. Suffice to say he ran away very quickly.
