Unwanted baby clothes and toys
We've had a clear out and have a massed a large amount of baby and toddler clothes and toys.
The charity shows in town are rather sniffy and picky now.
Does anyone know of a suitable charity or refuge that will make use of it all.

The Heart Foundation seem more receptive than most, but I will email you the details of a lady I know that is a Trustee for a women's refuge and has previously accepted baby clothes, etc. Perhaps an option, and at least the clothes will be well received.

If you have a large amount of items, I would avoid FreeCycle. As much as I use it myself, it's from this that I know from responses you receive, it's obvious a lot of people are either eBaying it or selling it at Car Boot sales. This is only a small minority, but I get responses from the same people for EVERY item that I've offered on there and can think of no other reason why the same people would want everything I offer unless they were planning to sell it on.
Shame a small minority spoil it's reputation.

There are often sales of second hand baby/toddler clothes and used toys linked to fundraising for mother & toddler groups.
Been a while since we supported any of these so not sure of any contact details - maybe the library will have details as there is a mass of useful information on local groups to be found there.
I believe there is a car-boot sale due at Richard Hale this coming weekend - it may be worth pitching up with a pasting table there and then you can donate any takings to the charity of your choice.

It isn't the charity shops fault. At this time of year EVERYONE is getting rid of their toys/kids clothes. Its no joke when you've had forty or so black bags of them donated (in a couple of days)and you still have to smile sweetly and take more. It usually takes an hour to sort a black bag full of toys as most people don't understand that people won't buy incomplete jigsaws, dolls with their faces covered in Mummy's nail varnish etc
