Wiggingtons
I noticed the other day that there is a 'for sale' sign outside the shop.
Is this another business selling up and moving on?

I believe they have been planning to move on for some time, hence the extended sale. I'm not sure but I think the owner (or one of the owners) past away last year or early this year. I'm sure someone will confirm or correct me.

The co-owner Roy passed away a couple years ago and Angela has found it hard to carry on. The lease is up for renewal and in current times she has decided to retire. Very sad both her and Roy were lovely people.

Last rumour on jungle drums was that it is to be a coffee shop - well I suppose apart from the Hertford Tea Rooms, there's not much choice at that end of town [:)]

Wouldn't that be dependent upon a change of use being granted?

What's going to happen to the adjacent Library building when the new library opens? The area around Wiggingtons could be in line for some major changes.

If i had the money I'd love to rent the Wiggingtons building. I'd turn it into an antiques emporium, selling all sorts of affordable bits a pieces, from furniture to kitchenware, to all manner of things.
Hertford has so many period properties but not many places to purchase the type of furniture/accessories that use to be seen in those types of properties. Which (my wife especially) love to find.
You could even have a small tea room in the current shop area, with the antiques etal in the other side.

I wish I had the money to do it as the property is perfect for that. I like Beckwith & Sons buy a lot of the stuff in their is very expensive so coming in at a more affordable level would suit the town as well.
We generally go away for the weekend to the Cotswolds to a couple of Antique centers to buy stuff for our house as we haven't be able to find anywhere nearer..Well apart from the place in Ely.
