Over The Moon, in The Wash, next to the (sadly) defunct Bouquet seem to have gone. Not another credit-crunch closure, I hope?

I spotted that this morning, when did they go? 3 empty shops in a row now, very sad sight.

They were open at the weekend, they had the dog bowl outside as usual! Oh dear.... Trouble is its not exactly an everyday shop..... really

Maybe there's an opportunity there to connect the three small shops into one large one? I'm afraid some of the older premises in The Wash/St Andrew St. area don't really lend themselves to modern outlets. The Audio File has been shut for few years now in a lovely old building but unfortunately not good for trading.

The put back the wall when it was let as Twisted Rio although both shops have access to the same back yard. There was a planning application to turn the back areas and upstairs of The Bouquet and Twised Rio into housing and leave the front as lock up shops, not sure what decisions if any were made. Over the Moon does not have access to the same area at the back.

Its a shame that the character buildings in the area aren't easy for retailers. Seems there are problems with each shop and its a shame the St Andrew St 'vibe' couldn't be extended as far as Parliament Sq. There seems to be a division in Hertford with Maindenhead St. being the 'green line'. As someone pointed out in another thread when coming out of the Castle Hall you're faced with three empty shops, a subway, martins and a chicken shop - its not the best impression in my opinion.

Mrs P will be very unhappy to hear this as its her favourite shop. She'll be moaning...sorry, wondering...where to get incense and her type of jewelery from now on. Very sad news.
