Has anyone else noticed the police by hartham today on their bicycles? Yes that’s right cops on bikes. Top move I think.

I think for areas such as Hartham (where there has been many instances of ASB) that the bike cop is a really good idea. Patrolling on foot is too slow and they can't cover much of the area while on a bike its easy to access most of Hartham/the meads plus they can be in the town centre quickly if needed. In a car its too easy to miss things - not so easy on a bike. More please.

In years gone by Drama Queen's father said ALL bobbies used to have bikes, not panda cars, they did detect things before they happened, so to speak and were faster than just on foot. Its a good move and environment friendly and means a more visible force. I am one who is all for seeing more cops on the streets and less behind a PC monitor, let non-uniform civilian workers do the stats, let the coppers do their policing on the streets as they should!

They have been using bikes in the city for years now. It's a great idea. Keeps the bobbies fit as well!!

I've just seen a convoy of five police cyclists riding around the town centre. They looked as if they were on a training excerise.

Spokey Dokeys we called them !!! I remember them well, I coloured my ones in!!! Seriously, you see more potential crime, can be hearing anything and its saving the taxpayer a fortune in petrol fees for filling the panda cars up.. More bobbies on bikes please.. They were having their Cycling Proficiency Test earlier this afternoon, going up Pegs Lane! Some of them were struggling to get up the hill to say the least, lets hope they aren't called to many incidents at County Hall... They may need to wait a while [:D]

I do hope they have good locks for locking the bicycles up in the Town centre or the thieves will be out in Force. Have the Hertfordshire Constabulary brought in Special Forces from Cambridge for the training exercises?
