Deliveries for single people
I'm trying to order a delivery for me, as I'm hungry and too busy to go shopping, but I can't eat enough to fulfil a minimum order for at least two takeaways I've now telephoned. Even though I offered to pay for delivery they refused to bring me food.
Anybody know any outfits that will deliver a curry, rice and naan bread?

Order a bit more than you need, then put the excess in the freezer to be eaten at a later date, or reheat it the next day?
We always have surplus chinese food and it tastes lovely the next day when nuked in the microwave.

How about phoning a hungry friend and sharing with them? Who knows it may lead to other things and dinner for one will be a thing of the past [:D]

Look at the Rani meal deal for one here. Free delivery and it was really tasty.

or the Devdas meal for one below that, with an extra Pappadam (50p). Total price £10.45p, delivered free.

I agree with Homeless - order enough for 2 or more meals and put the extra in the freezer for another day - curry and rice freezes down easily and then you have another quick meal ready when you want it.
Be warned however - when any spicy dish is frozen and then defrosts, it will taste far more spicy then when originally cooked - something to do with the spices having time to mature / marinate. So be careful if you freeze down the Vindaloo - you may end up with a volcano.

With regard to freezing rice, the following advice from the Food Standard Agency may be useful.
I've heard that reheating rice can cause food poisoning. Is this true?
It's true that you could get food poisoning from eating reheated rice. But it's not actually the reheating that's the problem – it's the way the rice has been stored before reheating.
Uncooked rice can contain spores of Bacillus cereus, bacteria that can cause food poisoning. When the rice is cooked, the spores can survive. Then, if the rice is left standing at room temperature, the spores will germinate into bacteria. These bacteria will multiply and may produce toxins (poisons) that cause vomiting or diarrhoea. Reheating the rice won't get rid of these toxins.
So, the longer cooked rice is left at room temperature, the more likely it is that bacteria, or the toxins they produce, could stop the rice being safe to eat.
It's best to serve rice when it has just been cooked. If that isn't possible, cool the rice as quickly as possible (ideally within one hour) and keep it in the fridge for no more than one day until reheating.
Remember that when you reheat any food, you should always check that it's steaming hot all the way through, and avoid reheating more than once.
