I have just had my card cloned. I used it in a Pizza place in Hertford and on a website recently so not sure if it was either of these? Anyone else had any issues recently?

Yes, a month or two ago. Like you it could of been a transaction over the net or a shop (but not the pizza place). The perpetrator used it for itunes and also to top up an oyster card, the woman on the banks fraud line couldn't control her laughter over the oyster top up[:D]

Yes same as us twice, the first was £1 a month over a 2 month period then got hit for about 3 hundred dollars used for online gambling, then more recently a charity shop donation but this was noticed before the big one came out! They do this to test and see of you notice!!

Mine was for £1000 in Singapore! Luckily the bank stopped the transaction but annoyingly my card was then cancelled, leaving me stuck in John Lewis one afternoon not able to pay for my sisters moving in present! Had to wait a week for a new card as well leaving me with no money over that weekend due to the banks closing. Was a nightmare.

My poor old dad got his cloned.. by a Porn Book seller in Canada! Oh the shame [:D] We had a laugh eventually!

And to think, chip and pin was suppose to reduce fraud. We never had any problems before C&P but have had two cards cloned since[:0]

Chip and PIN has reduced a particular type of fraud driving fraudsters to "Cardholder Not Present" fraud i.e. phone, internet and "phishing" scams. My advice is to have a credit card with a low credit limit that you use puely for internet transactions, that and not allowing your card to leave your sight when transacting.

According to the latest figures credit card fraud has fallen substantially since chip n pin. They also say card holder not present fraud is falling due to the introduction of the additional password.

I can only talk from personal experience! Before C&P we never had any problems. Some say the Internet is the cause but personally I was using cards over the net for several years before C&P without a problem. Yet since the introduction of C&P, I would say that at least 60% of my friends and family have become victims of card fraud.

Our debit card was cloned when we, as repeat customers, used it over the phone to a place in Scotland in mid December '08. Two weeks and c.£7k later, and after the bank increasing the overdraft for us without notification or query over the bills to different taxi firms on the same day at Heathrow for £1.5k and £800, the internal China flight tickets etc, we were left stranded in the US with a frozen bank account and only our emergency credit card for two thirds of the holiday. It took about 3 months to get the money back from the bank and we're still not laughing about it a year later. It was interesting to note that banks automatically give you the option of their topping up your overdraft limit without consent, particularly if you are good customers and if 'it was Christmas time when (our) customers spend more' and you have to actively notify them that you do not want this option. It was a hell of a way to learn a lesson!

Aubend, you could be right [:D] No seriously credit card fraud is no joke and chip and pin has not made it disappear, certainly the crooks are now getting a little cleverer...
