A few days ago I witnessed a police raid on a flat in Hertford. The curious part about the whole thing was that immediately after they gained entry (they failed to smash the door open and had to wait for the resident to open the door) the police placed a very large A board outside the flat on the pavement. The board stated that an "anti drugs operation was in progress and if you have any info please call.......". By placing the board outside the flat are the police not publicly slandering the resident before they have had a fair trial.....If the resident is innocent then haven't the police possibly damaged that persons reputation. While the police can't carry out a raid without people noticing, surely the reason for the raid should initially be kept private. Before anyone asks, no it was not my home that was raided but it was someone who I speak too in passing and obviously I now see this person in a different light because of these events. Is this now standard practice for our local police? What do others think?
