Anyone know what's going on? Started a few weeks ago with a little generator that they had pumping away 24 hours a day. Now it seems to have escalated into lots of digging. New Hertford by-pass? [:)]

I heard this second hand (so I can't vouch for its accuracy). It seems that when they did the pile driving for the new flats the other side of the river from Walton Motors, that they drove into a storm drain and filled it with concrete. I really hope these works will now cure the flash flooding problems.

Hi. I actually live in one of the new flats opposite Walton Motors and you are quite right. We received a letter from Thames Water that the lunatics who built this place mucked up the drainage or sewers and filled them with concrete, hence the flooding in other areas of Hertford. The building works are expected to last until the end of September. Whilst some of the plants may have been pulled off of the fences please rest assured that there is still a lot left further away from the bridge and it is a haven for lots of birds.

Phase 4 were the developers. I would hope that the water company and insurers would be seeking to recover their costs.

Phase 4 still list the St Andrews rectory on their site under 'future developments' but that's obviously no longer the case, unless they've rebranded themselves.

Thankfully it is all completed now, no noise, no inconvenience. How pleasant. Those coming from Bengeo must have found it a nightmare in the mornings, especially just as the schools started back

Ah yes, I know what you mean! That and the noise of flatbed lorries driving over the bridge with loose tools in the back. So glad I discovered this forum to relieve my stress. Regarding the roadworks, does anyone here live near where the roadworks were? the generator/pump was a nightmare 24hours a day.
