Concrete Blocks

Does anyone know what the succession of concrete outcroppings are in Hartham Common and in and around the meads. Kind of look like maybe the tops of bomb shelters or something.

Judging by the smell you occasionally get on some hot summer days, I think they must be something to do with the sewerage system.

I think they are Manhole covers for the main sewers, they are raised up above ground level because of the likelyhood of the area flooding - and if the flood water gets into the sewers this could cause problems.[xx(] Actually posted by Jez_P My Wife has been using my PC and not logged out[:(!]

Oh how disappointing, mere manhole covers rather than some coldwar uber complex my flights of fancy made them. Makes sense I suppose.

Yet they could be a Knights Templar maze of tunnels that lead to the Holy Grail[;)]
