Yeah I think he's making a difference gradually, the players seem to be able to last 90mins whereas before they were lasting around 70mins & losing the games heavily. There's been quite a few new faces in the team but I think this was to increase competition for places and get them playing harder for each other. At the end of the day it comes down to results so if theyre not winning maybe he isnt doing a good job ;)

I went, I laughed, I cried I enjoyed the afternoon, but a bit less swearing from the players would be good. The Hertford Town Band included a vuvuzela, a hunting horn about three metres long, a tambourine and my absolute favourite, a mouth-organ. The game was ok, lots of early missed chances, a few open goals missed by the Saints and all the goals comimg late, with the Hertford equaliser almost the last kick of the game.

It was a good atmosphere at the ground that game. The best this season has to be the Oxhey Jets FA Cup match where the noise could be heard from the town. I know there has been lots of compliments about the supporters and how much noise they make, hopefully the boys on the pitch will give them even more to shout about soon. More instruments are welcome at the ground, if you know a youngster or someone that would like to come along, make some noise and have a laugh then let them know. The next home games is at home this Saturday (14th) against Haringey Borough!

The announcement referred to a very welcome sponsorship by Leka Fastfit Centre of Cheshunt and the unveiling of a new blue kit for 2012. The pitch is in excellent shape, the best it has been for years thanks to the hard work of the ground staff during and since the close season. Thanks to the tireless unpaid work of the committee the club is developing well both on and off the pitch allowing those (admittedly) few of us real football fans who love the game to watch invariably entertaining (if not always successful) football games. Even in defeat the players are to be commended for the effort they put into training and playing for very little reward. The Reserve and Under18 sides are doing well in their respective competitions and it is very gratifying to note that players can eventually graduate from those sides to the first team. Hundreds of youngsters from the age of 5 attend training sessions every Saturday morning with their parents for training and matches thanks to the coaches who give up their free time unpaid to develop the players and fans of the future once again proving there is a real world of football out there and not all the kids are stuck in front of TVs and Computers 24/7. Millionaire benefactors who won't interfere with the running of the club are hard to come by these days but should one take over at Hertford and build an all-seater stadium with under-soil heating I'm sure you'll read about it in the Mercury and you may even honour the club with your presence but in the meantime Hertford Town FC will just have to struggle by without your support but thanks to the Committee, the Management Team and the Players the Club will survive.

James007, nice to see you have some fire in your belly about the club. Exactly the type of attitude that's needed on the committee to really get things moving. Apparently there is a lot going on behind the scenes at the moment, a fixtures/events mini mag is being produced, the car park area (not the clubs responsibility) has a grant from the council for more work, sportsacise fitness classes starting next month and they are working with the Youth to do something for the carnival. Ideas for a concert are being mulled over with the council so in a way it is starting to come together. As for ownership of Hertingfordbury Park, the council owns the land & sub lets it to a private owner, who then sub lets it to the club. It would be nice if the club owned all the land but I guess the council wouldnt be kind enough to give it to them. HTFCs last home match of the season tomorrow (Sat 3pm). I went along to support them for the first time in their last home match against Hatfield. Was a great atmosphere with trumpets blowing and humorous chanting....and they won 4-2. Last match of season is sure to have a party feel to it so I will be there again and recommend it. Hertford Town FC beat Hatfield 3-0 today. Really good performance. The last goal from the left winger was a beauty. Big attendance today and nice touch at the end when players saluted the faithful fans in the shed end. I had a chat with a couple of the players in the bar afterwards.......so,so young......and very polite. Another home game next Saturday. Brilliant victory for Hertford Town FC in FA Vase match on Saturday. We filled a coach for the away game with Takeley. Fans were chanting for the whole match, you would have thought we were the home team, and we snatched a victory thanks to a superb goal captured here http://youtu.be/nen2OZc3QM0 As the chants of “Come on Hertford” were ringing, Rees Hewitt collects the ball, turns and chips it to Sean Stock who controls the ball high in the air while skipping passed the first defender and then side stepping the second to shoot past the keeper from 25 yards. .....and why not, Donostia? There's a lot of good people down there working hard and unpaid to provide an excellent sporting amenity for the town. Not to mention the hundreds of youngsters who benefit from being members of Hertford Town Youth FC and taking part in regular training and competitive matches. The club is well supported by Spartan South Midlands League standards but is deserving of many more considering the enjoyable football they strive to provide.....

I don't know if any of you remember 1999 when a North London business man arrived at Hertingfordbury park promising to rebuild the club house and get us to the conference in 5 years. The committee at the time had few options and accepted his offer. He stayed for a year, we had Graham Roberts as manager for a few months, reached mid table in the Ryman Div 2 and he then left leaving a partially built club house and thousands of pounds of debt which took years to clear. It happens at all levels Portsmouth FC have also accepted loans from directors and they face expulsion from the league if they cannot extracate themselves from the financial knot they are in not with debts to at least 2 previous owners. I am sure that it was not an easy decision but it is important to ensure that offers to put money into clubs at this level are realistic. I do know what I am talking about here as I was part of the small committee that were left to pick up the pieces.

Call me a cynic, but promises of showers of "up to" £300k in cash from people with no previous connection willing to be "silent partners" seems a little unlikely. I suspect there is substantially more to this than is reported in the Mercury.

Hertford have great support from a small catchment area. I was pleasently surprised when I went recently, much less crowd abuse of the officials than you used to get at non-league grounds.............good vocal support from the Hertford fans and, more importantly good football and a genuine feel from the pitch that the players played for the club. I will be there this evening. Second visit this season.

A 3-1 defeat but a battling performance. Well done all......especially the keeper who pulled off five outstanding saves in the second half. Oh, and apologies from me.......it was my first away game and Colney play in the same blue shirts as hertford's home kit......so when Colney scored after 20 seconds I thought it was Hertford and cheered. Hertford FC followed up the 2-1 victory over Hadley with a 3-1 win against Leverstock Green last Saturday. They made it 3 wins in a week last night by beating Kings Langley in QF of Herts Charity Shield. Heard from Herts FA today that the final will be 7:45pm Wednesday 8th May at Vauxhall Road Hemel Hempstead Town FC We are up against Oxhey Jets who beat us 7-0 and 7-1 in our 2 encounters this season and are the current holders of the shield. We have progressed a lot since the last defeat against them in January. I really fancy us to win it.

Last night Hertford Town FC travelled to Hillingdon Borough and won for the first time ever at their ground. It was a very convincing 4-0 win for our boys. That is 4 wins in 5 this season. We travel again this Saturday but a much shorter journey to play Hadley FC who are playing at Potters Bar.

Tomorrow Saturday 21st September Hertford Town FC host Oxhey Jets in the league. They beat us 7-0, 7-1 and 4-0 in 3 games last year. Our performances have been erratic this season. Which Hertford Town team will turn up tomorrow? The one that got 4-0 wins against Hillingdon Borough and Stotfold. Of the one that lost 4-2 to Hatfield and 6-0 against Dunstable Town. Kick off 3pm. If we win we could leap from current position of 10th to 7th.

I think it was really difficult for Marvin to live in Tottenham, work in Central London, training/matches 3 times per week and spend time developing local contacts and integrating youth set up with senior squad....oh and he has a young family. I have no doubts he will do really well in his next role when it comes. I was really pleased with a huge turnout at training tonight. We get far bigger and noisier crowds than any other club in this league. As a result the players play for the fans rather than the manager (compared to other clubs) so we will get over this and push on. Really hope as many people as possible come to the game on Saturday to show their support for the players.

Thank you for the explanation. It seems harsh that having seen your list of good and not so good teams, the first game I saw of the league season was a second place by 4-2 to Hatfield!

Yes I was expecting someone to pick that up. But we played a very high defensive line that Hatfield found it easy to hit the ball over and scored 3 goals as a result. We also conceded 2 goals in exactly the same way against lower league Cuffley in pre-season just before the Hatfield match. It was our mistakes rather than The oppositions quality. Needless to say the defence have played deeper since the Hatfield match.
