Luton Airport - drop off issues
Am flying out early from Luton on Saturday morning.Has anyone experienced problems with the new system of drop off, where they are charging for the privilege, and long queues early on a Saturday morning?
I know there has been issues during the week with people missing flights etc.

if that isn't working you could get someone to drop you off in the mid/long term car park and you can get the bus from there. if you're in the car park for a short period of time i.e. less than 20mins you wont be charged. i went from Luton and picked the wrong car park after a 20min drive round i realised and just drove back out.

I have no problem paying £1 to drop someone off, it makes sense but ONLY if they provide an improved service. At Luton it costs more and it doesnt work.

There was an article on the early evening news on BBC TV last night that its not going very well at all... it looked like the whole place had gridlocked..

I went to Luton Airport a couple of days ago. Left Hertford at 2pm and was parked up in mid-term within 45 minutes. No queues, no congestion.

Lucky old you! I would imagine that at certain times and maybe when the M1 has congestion or peak flying times (believe it or not Sundays are the worst!) it might be a different issue... You were lucky I think... But I hope this isn't just a one off and it continues in this way.[:D]

We had a bit of a nightmare a few weeks back. As soon as we turned onto Airport Way it was gridlocked. You're better getting dropped off near the mid-stay car park and walking the rest - it's only a 5/10 min walk.

Surely the bus will sit in the same traffic that the car dropping you off would have done? Plus you've got to wait for the bus to turn up.

Fair comment. All I can say is that my visit earlier in the week was a breeze. I'm going back later in the month so I'll report back my experiences again.
