Santander claim that the rebranding of The Abbey and Bradford & Bingley won't result in any branch closures, but I cannot see the logic or business sense in having two branches of the same bank within 100 yards of each other in a small market town like Hertford. I foresee yet another empty shop unit at the Wash end of Maidenhead Street.

Yes, I've been one of those people. I only just realised last week that there was another Santander! Presumably one of them will close eventually?
